Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the OpenECG consortium the BIOSIGNA Institute organises a workshop on ECG communication and integration of ECG information into the electronic health record (EHR). The meeting will be held in Berlin and will be hosted by the German Standardisation Institute DIN, Section HEALTH INFORMATICS. You are cordially invited to participate.

During the past two years the discussion on ECG data communication was revitalised by FDA, DICOM, Home Care and Telemedicine requirements. The European Commission has launched in 2002 the OpenECG project to support the implementation and consistent use of the SCP-ECG Standard.

The objectives of this second workshop are:

  • to present and to review the results from the OpenECG project;
  • to discuss the communication standards that have evolved for the different application areas of electrocardiography;
  • to examine the application of SCP-ECG and other interchange formats to Stress and Holter Electrocardiography;
  • to search for harmonisation solutions (e.g., Format Converters);
  • to discuss compliance testing and ECG system certification;
  • to exchange information on related European projects planned and in progress;
  • to take a look at technological developments for wearable sensors and other micro devices for home and mobile care in telemedicine.
The workshop will comprise plenary presentations and break out discussions with wrap up sessions. Keynote review presentations are planned as well.

Relevant Dates:

Abstract submission deadline (extended): January 25th 2004
Notification of acceptance: February 15th 2004
Papers for proceedings: April 3rd 2004

For oral presentations duration of 15 min. and discussion time of 5 min. are scheduled by the program committee.
