In a world where there is a continuous proliferation of medical devices and a constant evolution of the telecommunication infrastructure, there is still a need of integrating ECGs in the multimedia electronic health record and of storing them in a format that allows their processing and serial comparison. The ideal goal would be the possibility of plug and play seamlessly medical devices of different vendors in a Health Information System able to manage the citizens' patient record including their clinical examinations. The way through a real interconnectivity and interoperability of different medical devices is the use of standards for communication and storage. The main goal of the OpenECG project is the promotion and the maintenance of such standards, thus to facilitate the interoperability in the real world. The attempt is to make it possible to move from standards in paper to standards that work. After more than a year from its beginning, the OpenECG project numbers more than 100 members from all around the world. For these members, the OpenECG consortium has delivered several members' services that will be illustrated during this information day. Furthermore, this information day wants to demonstrate the moves towards interoperability in electrocardiography made by integrators and manufacturers through invited talks and live demonstrations.
