ECG acquisition, analysis and communication of SCP-ECG records between ECG workstations and a hospital

Christoph Zywietz

BIOSIGNA, Hannover, Germany

Biosigna has prepared a system with two ECG acquisition workstations and a server. The acquisition workstations consist of a "stand alone" ECG amplifier and a PC. Analog to Digital conversion is performed within the ECG amplifier. Data analysis and SCP formating will be done by the HES ECG programs on the workstations. Once in SCP-ECG format, the SCP records will be transmitted to the server (which is a Laptop PC as well). From one of the ECG Workstations SCP files may be sent by E-mail as attachments to BIOSIGNA in Hannover Internet address and will be retrieved from there. Content and Format checking will be performed on those retrieved files, but this may be also demonstrated on SCP-ECG files retrieved from the local server. The overall demo consists in:
  1. Acquire ECG at Workstation 1.
  2. Acquire ECG at Workstation 2.
  3. Overread, format ECG into SCP-ECG storage format and archive the ECG record.
  4. Transmit the SCP-ECG record to the Cardiology Service Center (E-Mail attachment).
  5. Retrieve the transmitted SCP-ECG record from the Cardiology Service Center.
  6. Demonstrate Content and Format Checkers.
