The OpenECG thematic network will pursue its objectives by a series of activities:

• OpenECG portal: The coordination and management of the OpenECG community through the OpenECG portal with concurrent assessment of results. The OpenECG portal will support the virtual community of those interested in the application of Computerized ECG standards and SCP-ECG in particular.
  
  
• Certification Service: The creation and operation of an on-line conformance testing and certification service for Computerized Electrocardiography standards. The creation and operation of an on-line certification process for SCP-ECG standards. In cooperation with CEN, and integrators involved in the development of multi-vendor solutions, a pilot certification process including multiple conformance levels will be designed and approved.
  
  
• Open Source repository: The construction, evaluation and promotion of tools in Open Source for viewing SCP-ECG files and translation from proprietary solutions to computerized ECG standards will be stimulated by the OpenECG network.Additionally a database of digital ECGs conforming to computerized ECG standards will be available to members.
  
  
• Dissemination Activities: Liasing with standardization activities, professional organizations, regional health care networks, national boards, relevant projects and initiatives. Information Days, tutorials and participation in medical conferences will also be pursued.
  
  
• Workshops and Contests: The organization of two OpenECG workshops, one close to the beginning of the project and one close to the end, to further the causes of the OpenECG community. An effective way to enlarge the OpenECG network is to launch a contest associated with a prize to the open source community for the best Computerized ECG tools.
